What are the Luxury Buyers Looking for?

At a recent Luxury Real Estate conference, Jim Dalrymple of Inman gave insight into the latest buyer trends. He noted that "today's affluent buyers are looking for a 'turnkey lifestyle' and are buying luxury condos and smaller, high-luxury homes as opposed to large estates." Preference for housing with more amenities and less hands-on maintenance is also a dominant trend in the luxury market.
Luxury buyers today are "pairing down the size for an easier, fun lifestyle" says Nikki Field, a team leader at Sotheby's International Realty in New York. Realtors around the globe have been making similar observations about this trend, saying simplicity, luxury and lifestyle amenities like access to pools, shopping, fitness and restaurants are dominating buyers' wish lists.
